Roy Lunel was first acquainted with a microphone at age 18 when he was on the air on KPCS, the local FM station broadcasting from the campus of Pasadena City College. He learned his microphone techniques from seasoned veterans of broadcasting who taught classes at PCC while still working in the broadcast industry in Los Angeles. While a student in Radio and Television broadcasting, Roy started employment at Caltech’s renowned Beckman Auditorium, as a stage technician involved in lighting, stage decoration and sound. During this time, Roy voiced numerous PSA’s for the many touring acts that appeared at Beckman. These 30 and 60 second spots were heard on various LA radio stations for several years. 

Roy spent more than 6 years as an associate professor at the University of La Verne where he taught prospective radio and television students the art of radio and television broadcasting. The campus radio station KULV, was student run while the FM station KBOB, had a big band format that broadcast daily into the LA radio market. He also taught at Chaffey Community College in the Radio and TV department.

Roy has recorded more than a dozen audio books currently selling on Audible.com, iTunes and Amazon.

For more than 10 years Roy’s voice was heard on navigational GPS discs as “the only human voice” in automobile navigation. During this time, Roy read more than 5 million street names, points of interest, restaurants, parks and ATM’s in the US. Roy completed narration for the documentary Eternal Hologram which won the Rising Star Award and the Award of Excellence at the 2014 Canadian International Film Festival. He has lent his voice for many large and small international production companies for E-Learning, animation, games, web videos, explainer videos and documentary narrations.

Roy has a BA in Broadcasting from California State University, Los Angeles and a MA in Communications from the University of La Verne.
